Why Code?

Coding requires students to use reasoning skills, trial and error, and perseverance to execute commands and hopefully with more practice and deeper understanding, these experiences will transform the students into critical thinkers and software developers.

I recommend looking at Code.org because its services and products are FREE.  Code.org provides many short tutorial videos and plenty of coding activities that build on the level of the students' knowledge and capabilities.  The activities are relevant to the students' interests, and the gamification features are engaging.  Look at the layout for an hour of coding.  Then familiarize yourself with the task of coding by clicking here: https://studio.code.org/.   Coding ties in with math, reading, and writing.
